Thanks Chris.... I saw a video of Obsession when she was up for sale I think. I hope mine turns out that nice. Where are you located? Neel

The second boat looks like a BIG Bartender!

Before you do, I think I need three more 1/8 pieces of ply. I was wondering if I could tack in on your order and come pick it up from you?

Bryan,,, I always get my plywood from Russell Plywood in New Castle, DE. I go down and pick it up. I would be happy to pick up the 1/8" pieces you need, but not sure how soon I will be going. It may be 2 weeks or so before I can get down there. If you need it right away, I probably won't be of much help to you. Just let me know.... Neel

Thanks Neel. I won't need it until after I flip the boat and at my pace that maybe two years.

Bryan--- I will let you know when I am ready to order and we will add yours to the list.

I finally finished encapsulating the side battens and have glued them in place and started the frame/batten fairing process. This will take a while and I'm really not looking forward to it. It is still hot here !! The pictures look like the last batch, but everything is glued now.

Neel,

I'd have to stop, screw some j hooks in, and hang it from the ceiling as is. Far too pretty to plywood over.

I spent about six or so hours this weekend fairing everything. I used my six inch RO sander with 24 grit sandpaper to get it very close to being acceptable. I'm going to switch to 40 grit next and then 80. There were many short sessions with the sander, working in small sections, and then walking back to eyeball the area. The more I did it, fewer eyeballing trips were required. It's like you start to get a feel for how much to take off.

I took a hand plane, drilled/tapped 2 holes on each side face, then screwed on a extension leg of hardwood to go outward enough to land on adjacent longitudinal. (like a outrigger)
The extension leg would lay on adjacent longitudinal, and I worked the plane on the other longitudinal.
Draw a centerline on the part you are working and never plane past the center line.
This worked well for me.
Oak is over rated, everything about it takes extra time; then it warps, splits or checks !!!
