I was afraid to take my cutwater off after tacking it up for fear it would warp welding it. Everything came together beautifully, Biss.

She floats! We launched yesterday around 2 o'clock at Lake Catherine State park. It was just me and my wife and we spent about 2.5 hours on the lake buzzing around until a thunderstorm rolled in and chased us off the lake. We had such a good time, you couldn't wipe the grins off our face!
The boat performed great! We really didn't have any issues at all. The boat sits in the water pretty close to the predicted waterline, maybe alittle lower aft. Seems like the prop motor combo was right on. WOT was slightly under 6000rpm and that produced about 35mph. Hole shot feels really good too. Pops right out and is on plane quickly. The engine is sooo quiet and starts/runs like a car engine! The motor ran for nearly the entire 2.5 hours and the fuel gage needle hardly moved.
I couldn't have asked for a more successful launch. Pictures follow! Ill try and post a video link alittle later.

Nicely done! That is really a stunning ride! ... the natural color of the deck and painted topsides look great together.

Perfect! What a stunning boat. The look of old with all the convenience of new! Great Job! Have a great summer! The timeline you did such a quality job in is most impressive!
Re: Biss's Malahini Build
Congratulations on the launch! Everything looks top notch. What a great boat! Great performance out of that Merc. If you're hitting 6000 at WOT you might be able to go up a size on the prop.

Fabulous boat!!
We take our Malahini out just down the road from you on lake Degray.
Great job,

Congratulations. What a relief when everything goes so well.

Re: Biss's Malahini Build
Thanks for all the nice comments and well wishes! We went out again yesterday afternoon. Spent about 3 hrs on the water. We are really enjoying the boat and it is performing really good. With two passengers (300lbs), at WOT, 5900, and trimmed we get about 35mph. Hole shot seems to be very good. I didn't comment on the spray rails yesterday, but we are staying completely dry! My rails stop short of going all the way to the front. I was afraid I might have an issue, but they seem to be working fine.
The swim platforms work pretty good, but we still need some sort of ladder to get on them. We used the foot of the motor as a step but it is really too high. Ill have to come up with something there. They look better than I expected and sit just an inches or two above the water when standing on them. No sure how we would have gotten back it the boat without them!
Really satisfied with how it all turned out. Mr. Witt did such a great job designing the Malahini. If you build it per the drawings/instructions it is going to work great. Also wanted to thank everyone for the advice and encouragement along the way. We plan to go out one more time today before I have to get back to work tomorrow! Hope to take our two kids out this weekend, should be fun!
