Absolutely love the Shinto saw rasp and now that I have been using a Japanese pull saw I will probably never by anything else.

Got one of those as well. That is what I used to trim excess overhang on the bottom side juncture.And your project is looking real good. Nice place to work(jealous here). Steve

These are the tools that ended up fairing most of the oak. I have some great tools given to me by my grandfather and father in law - and continually “borrow” tools from my dad.

The sides are all fitted and predrilled and ready for epoxy

The boys and I finally started glueing and screwing a side panel today. Everything went great until we heard a loud CRACK! When we attached the plywood to the sheer it snapped the joint between the chine and frame 1!?

Do any of you guys see a problem with me just screwing in another 2” screw above the broken one? Should I try and sand out the old epoxy and squeeze in some more?

Wow that's interesting. You could run a saw kerf through that joint, epoxy in a shim, and run a screw through from the outside. You'd be sawing through a silicon bronze screw but that shouldn't be a problem if you use a circular saw.

Glad the fix worked. Many issues can be fixed with modern epoxy and creativity
