Outrage progress
Really slow progress. Only a couple of hours a day to work on it. Here in Ga, it has been unbearable with record number of days in the 90’s with matching humidity. Maybe I can get the bottom started tomorrow. Steve
Re: Outrage progress
Looks like you are making good progress.
Re: Outrage progress
Keep plugging away. It's a process. Sometimes the heat (or cold) wins, but eventually you will get there. I spend a lot of time just looking at older pictures of my own build just to remind me how far I've come.
Re: Outrage progress
A little more shaping at the keel needed and then we can remove to get ready to glue and screw this side
Re: Outrage progress
I've never taken a serious look at the outrage before but that think will be seriously fast with a 115 on it. What were you planning on for power?
Re: Outrage progress
A long way from that.... if I don’t strike a match to it...
I had a 75 hp on a 14’ runabout back in the 80’s that was good. I would like to have a good size on it.

Re: Outrage progress
Its really coming along nicely, that is already looking fast.

Re: Outrage progress
You are getting there. You will be glassing before you know it

Re: Outrage progress
Don’t know what’s up with this one sheet of plywood. Both sides looked the same. Smooth side up. Not fitted up at the bow but training it to bend. Will have to do the wet towels on it. Will be painted so it will have to do. The closest place for marine ply is a good 30 mins away.
Re: Outrage progress
Don't be afraid to use more screws to hold it down. Are you going to fiberglass the hull after your done?
Re: Outrage progress
The screws with the washers are just so I can fit the panels. They are ceramic coated but will not be used. I am using bronze. I was thinking about using them when glueing and then removing and reinstalling the bronze. Suggestions? I don’t know if I can work fast enough to glue and do all 3 batons, chine and keel at 2” intervals. Even if I pre-drill. Steve
Re: Outrage progress
I epoxied, then used my bronze screws to screw it down. I started from the back and worked forward with larger spacing, getting closer together towards the front, then went back and added screws in between. So, ultimately I ended up with spacing about 2" apart at the bow and maybe 3" aft. I only added a few screws in the battens to hold it down, then went back after I got the bow done, which is the hardest part. Stitch back and forth from side to side until your at the point of the bow.
Re: Outrage progress
Did you pre-drill all of those holes?
Re: Outrage progress
I would pre-drill. Just remember the order in which you drilled and put in the screws. Install the screws in the same order when you have the epoxy down due since the wood will be under some stress and may not lay the same if secured in a different order.

Re: Outrage progress
Yes, I pre-drilled. I used two drills; one with a drill bit and the other with a phillips bit and worked feverously pushing down, drilling, then running in screws as i went. Not saying it's the perfect method, but it worked well for me.
