the quest.

Post by china »

like i have said earlier, alterations are not realy meant to be made without a navel arciteques approval.

do you think the quest houseboat could be made a little longer? it says the cockpit plan would not work but could i go around that problem by re,designing it.

do you think glen l witt or another arciteque could design the alterations for me?

it would be used in river work. if it could be made longer i an thinking about four foot longer, but would any longer than that affect the water flow/speed dynamics.

cheers and thanks.

I am not a naval architect, but I think as long as the shape holds fair and is strong enough it should be fine. But the design on the Quest recommends you don't lenthen or shorten due to the cockpit cole.

The Delta Q http://www.glen-l.com/designs/house/deltaq.html can be extended 10% that would put it around 27 1/2 feet. Which is about where you want to be.

Or you could go Delta King, http://www.glen-l.com/designs/house/deltaking.html and shorten it 10% to 30 feet.

It almost sounds like you want to make one like http://glen-l.com/picboards/picboard7/pic419a.html or like http://glen-l.com/picboards/picboard1/pic13ltr.html

i like the look of those boats above. they have given me some ideas.

i want to make the quest though as i thought it would make a fast housboat. with 200ish horsepower and strenghened to take more seats i thought it would be a good boat.

at the size it is now i would be looking roughly at 17 feet long inside, thats basicly about the size of an old ford transit van mini bus.

not as much space as i would like.

if i could get the plans extended about five feet that would give me enough room to space the seats out and have i little walkway from front to back.

i would love to get these plans extended.

question: what do they mean when it says that it cannot be extended because of the cockpit sole? how do they mean?

are they saying you cannot change the front bow because it would change the outside seating arangment? if so maybe i could keep the front the same and just extend the back, stern.

hhmmmm.

any ideas?

cheers.

well thanks mates. i know it was as bit diffifcult. i have just seen the ruver.

they want £60000000 dollers inszurance before they let you in before you cvan use their decks. i will protest this on lake pirates.
