I can totally see your feet in the vrroom vrooom picture. Nothing like seeing the heart in place, even if its temporary.

Some where in this plank is the dash. :)

Image

Just checking what parts to cut away and what to leave.

Image

This is the shape I have gone for.

Image

Sanded and drilled ready for varnish.

Image

First coat only 5 more to do but I had to have a little look with the clocks in. :D

Image

I'll leave drilling out for the switches till I'm sitting in the boat and get a feel where to put them and I think I will change the gold blase to chrome I'm not sure if I can get away with mixing the bling  but I do like the look of gold on wood.

I really like it! I agree with Roberta, I think the gold looks good and will go with the silver.

Shouldn't the speedometer be in KM/hour??

Yep, UK is MPH. Fergal, you can practice your Gold Member accent and say the gauges are covered in gooold.

I have been doing a bit on the engine hatch trying to work out the best way to cover up the manifolds and carb.

Image

Image

This is the shape I have come up with, I used my jumper doused in hot water to help bend the ply "very handy tools those jumpers"

Image

To cover in the sides I got an old block of 3"x 8" hardwood not the easiest thing to cut with hand tools.

Image

I set the jigsaw at as much an angle as I can to cut off the edge and then sand the rest.

Image

Image

Image

I will leave the final sanding till after I put down the mahogany planks so I can get it the right level I will also be cutting out an air vent in the front of it.

Image

It looks a bit tall but hopefully when it's planked it will blend in a bit and the vent will add to the look. "hopefully"

That is looking great Fergal. It must be nice to work on your boat in a climate that is below the temperature of the Sun. It has been mid 90s (35C) here for a couple of weeks straight. Sorry you had to sacrifice your jumper aka sweater to us 'Mercans

I don't know about that it has rained here every day for the last 3 months  the wettest summer on record.
