Hey Guys

I have been searching the forums for some answers but cant get anything specific but. I am in the process of building the 23" Raven. But after checking pricing for Plywood here in aus. Its gonna be expensive, but found due to there being an overstock of aluminum I can build the same boat but for cheaper.

Problem I got is can I use the Raven plans which are designed for plywood use to build the Raven out of aluminum instead, and if so what considerations do i need to take into account if going down this path??

 main one would be weight I would think also if you have the skill in welding to do the job. I know how to weld but not that type. I hope that helps it isn't much we do have some metal builder on forum and they might be able to shed more light on your question  8)

Yeah I know how to weld aluminum as i did a mig course couple years back and specifically asked to learn how to weld aluminum as the work i was doing at the time i dealt with alot of custom fabricated aluminum mounts for speakers etc.

Celcius; Check out Carlos Bairo's postings in the metal section. He's in Australia and has nearly completed a boat that he transferred from a ply design to aluminum.
