Long time reader, first time builder (finally!!).
My wife and I will begin plywood construction of the Jolly Roger in the coming days; after a few more details and decisions are worked out...One of those being, how much length can I safely and reasonably add to the hull? We like the Jolly Roger hands-down, but want the length of the Jack Tar, which coincidentally- the hull looks very much like the Jolly Roger.
So my question: Can I go out to 32-33', spacing the frames equally and taking all other aspects into reasonable consideration? At 33 feet I would be extending the hull...18%?

And I apologize now for the plethora of questions you will get from an over-eager first-time builder....But I have been dreaming of this for nearly twenty years.
Thank you all,
Kevin

:? most of glen-l plans recommend 10% lengthening if they even recommend it at all 8) And usually don't recommend widening of the beam

Thanks...I have no intent to change the beam, for obvious reasons. I'll pose the question another way. Has anyone extended their hull further than the recommended 10% with success?
I have made up my mind that I am going to do it, regardless. I would just like some encouragement from someone with some experience. I cant see any reason it wouldn't safely work. Now, if this vessel were designed to travel at higher speeds or were to be a work boat, I wouldn't consider such a drastic change....anyway....

After some reading and research, I may have answered my question; It appears that many production boat companies (according to some posts here on the forum) use a length/beam ratio of 3.3:1...
The Jolly Roger has a beam of 10' 11". My desired length of 33' is roughly 3:1.
I'm going for it.
Hopefully I don't end up at the bottom of Puget Sound
