Double Eagle 23

Post by Albert » Thu Aug 20, 2015 7:09 pm

A buddy of mine is interested in building a lobster boat.
Now I've referred him to the Double Eagle 23 but also the Outerbanks 24 from B&B.
Due to his tight budget I've opted to go with the 23 knowing it will save costs on epoxy/fiberglass.

Now the question is; I've noticed that the 23 can be extended but is it possible to build in an engine bracket that is able to carry a 150 hp engine.
Will this boat be able to carry the weight ?

Regards,
Albert.

Ps: I know that 150 hp is unnecessary. I'd prefer a 70 or 90 but it's not my boat.

If you do go that route, then be sure to put lift strikes on it, it will get up and fly!!
Oak is over rated, everything about it takes extra time; then it warps, splits or checks !!!

Thankyou guys, I appreciate the replies. :)
Should I leave the transon like in the plans or should I make it a bit thicker ?
