I built her Full size back in 1998. I am now thinking it would be fun to build a model of it to put on a desk. Is this possible? Do I need to get the full size frame patterns reduced in size?

Thanks!

Just had them redused and started building.
I felt it mite be better to start with 1/4 scale and work up to full??
Good luck! Randy

Thank You! very much!! That looks like fun.

Do I just go to a place with a copy machine to have them reduced?

Yep. Take the full size plans to Kinnkos/ Fedx and have them scaned. Then have them redused by 75% and print! Now you have 1/4 scale plans. Easy! Also take a thumb drive and have them put it on the drive. If you need more just take the drive and have them make more. You beat them out of the scaning cost. I spent something like $60 +-. Have 4 sets made 2 normal and 2 reversed. Then cut them out and glue together for a full frame ,scale drawing. I lay my parts on them to check fit.

Thanks for the tips! You have saved me a lot of time in finding answers to my questions.
I am thinking 1:12 scale. Do you think that will work as well as 1/4 scale?

Yep. Just do the math on the reduction %.
Also put a scale 1/4",1/2" 3/4" 1" to say 6' ( this is on one of the Full Size drawings) so you will have it to work from.
I use a drafting scale to work from. You mite take a look at it and see if their is a scale their you can use? Think it goes down to 1/16 ? Man I am getting old!

I'm not sure what you mean by putting a scale on the full size drawings.

Draw a ruled line ,just like on a ruler. Then you can us it to measure other things at whatever scale you have the drawings set to.

the scale models are really cool. My uncle and I are building the sea knight scale models to the 1/8 scale to match up with the vintage evinrude outboard toy motors we own.

I went to staples to get my full size blue prints reduced to 1/8 scale. They said that they do not have a scanner that big.

My full size plans are 42 inches wide and their scanner only goes to 36". How wide are your plans?

37" x 56". Was no problem here. The Frame drawings are only 1/2 of the Frame. I need to have two made to make a full frame. Maybe that is the problem?
