Squirt Jet pump height position

Postby Ashw » Fri Jul 05, 2013 6:04 pm

Hi all,

I am after some advice on where to position the centre of my jet pump on the Transom? I'm a little concerned I may have it positioned a little too high and are seeking a bit of feedback before it's too late (f/glass the hull). Better still what others have done and your results?

Any help is appreciated!

not sure but if you do a search for terry's squirt he has a lot of detail on how he did his squirt

Thanks Red, I have seen Terry's design and it has been very helpful.

Where Terry built his Squirt to suit the jet ski components I have chosen to graft the jet ski hull into mine. Thinking it would be an easier method, it seems to be a little more challenging to get the jet ski section to sit lower in the Squirt hull without having too much of the Jet ski hull protruding too far below. Hope that makes sense.

Anyhow, I’m still interested to see what others have done?

You are about the height I did mine. I had an issue being able to keep water in the pump in certain types of chop. If this makes sense, in very small chop that was close together, I skimmed over the top of it over 30 mph or so and could not keep water in the pump. My pump stuck out the back of the hull as far as I could.

I fixed the issue with a simple after market intake grate that keeps water shooting into the pump.

I can run 40+mph now with no issues.

You should be fine.

Thanks for your help guys, I decided to leave it at 3"

I have also added an aftermarket intake grate to the shopping list although there doesn't seem to be many out there for a Kawi 650 TS mainly X2/SX, can anyone confirm that the X2/SX will fit the TS?
