Jet squirt transom

Postby fourspeedfish » Sat Nov 09, 2013 3:35 pm

Starting a jet squirt and can't decide at what angle I should set the transom. Set it level or set it forward a few degrees? There will not be an outboard so I am not going to set it out the 12 degrees the plans call for. What are your thoughts about the Look and function of setting the transom at differ angles?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. Kev doesn't check in here as often as he used to so just incase you haven't seen it yet, his site will probably be of some help to you and your jet Squirt build.

Thanks for the reply. I have visited his site many times. He said he reversed the transom but not by how much.

Yeah it doesn't look like a lot. Maybe 5-6 degrees. You've probably seen this one as well but it looks like it has a little less forward rake in the transom then the other.

On my Dyno-jet I set the transom at 90 degrees to the keel but I had to make a 3 degree shim when it came time to install the jet pump. I didn't graft any part of the ski, I bolted the pump into the boat. I should have measured my pump more carefully first before I set my transom- I could have eliminated the process of making the shim. The pump has a three degree down thrust built into it.
Just my experience here- thought I would share.

not sure what degrees he used either but like Chris said I don't think it was to much. Which ski are you using for your set up it will factor in to how much room you will need and adjusting the angle to get more room may be needed

Thanks for the replys.
Still undecided on the angle. I may set it forward about 5 degrees or so.
The jet ski that is going to be grafted in is a 96 seadoo spx with a 720 motor.
