Swap Meet and Auction Discussion

Postby ttownshaw » Wed Jul 14, 2010 5:09 pm

Well, I can't contain myself any longer! Let's start a thread on who's bringing what to trade, swap, and auction at this year's gathering. I got some great deals out of Bill E's stash last year and will be contributing stuff this year.

I'm donating a...drum roll...extra set of windshield brackets. Yep, I had two sets cast. One for me and one for the auction.

I'll also be bringing more surprise stuff this year....shhhh if you know what it is...I can't let all the cats out yet.

I told my wife we needed a three-car garage for my projects...she told me to ask her for permission next time before I buy a house.

I'll be bringing my left over building supplies to donate to whomever wants 'em. Nothing exciting, silicon bronze screws, nails, fiberglass, epoxy, etc. Hey, it might save someone a few bucks. Also, I am blessed with a local boat junkyard that often has nice vintage hardware and hard to find items so I will try and find some goodies.

This evening I'm going to look at an early CC that's beyond repair...$600 for the whole shebang. I'm sure I'll find some goodies on it to bring as well.

Bumping this thread to check on any interest.

I am finally moving my workshop from GA to FL and want to lighten the travel load.

I thought I would offer my collection of stuff I thought I would use someday to fellow builders before putting it all on Ebay.

Is there enough interest out there to "organize" a swap meet??

Maybe donations for an auction or raffle to help fund present and future Gatherings?

Nows the time to chime in.

Kevin,

Donating for funds for future gathering events was really what I was thinking. As time gets closer I'll keep bumping the topic to remind those that are coming to bring their stuff too.

I just got this list from Jimmy70. He has decided that he's not going to start any more boats.

1. A 1/2 roll of 6oz fiberglass 50" wide cloth
2. A Super Spartan wood kit
3. A ton fo bronze nails
4. A small aluminum ladder for boarding
5. A small engine lift that attaches to back of boat, 40 hp or less.
6. Rope in packages
7. I am sure there might be other things but can't think right now.

I've been thinking about building a 3 point hydro for the granchillin. I may be interested.

I have a vintage Mercury Kiekhafer 6 gallon outboard fuel tank for sale. If anyone is interested, I can bring it to the G4.
