Now that we have settled on Hales Bar as the Gathering, I am proposing a River Run 2010.
With all the homework several of us did to find a Gathering place, I propose the upcoming River Run to do 2 things:
1. A great scenic cruise with fellow builders
2. Scope out future possible Gathering sites.
As much trouble as we gone thru this year for a site, we should have contingency sites in some sort of database for future reference. Chattanooga is centrally located for the most travellers so let's use that as a base area of excursion.

I am proposing a River Run upriver on Thursday prior, to lock thru Chickamauga in the A.M. Explore Chickamauga Lake for sites/marinas/State Parks. My research as advocate for Chattanooga revealed a whole lot of marinas on Chickamauga lake. There is 2 parks, 4 marinas, with ramps within few miles of the dam. Scan the area and the marinas just keep on going on and on. Of all these, one is probably a good site to investigate.
thurs evening lock back down river to Chattanooga and stay the nite there, perhaps on the DQ. there is 3 ramps near the DQ to investigate.
Friday return to Hales Bar for the Gathering.

Anyone else interested?

Ken... that sounds like a blast. It could almost be like a future Gathering spot "poker run".

Is that lake upstream or downstream from the Queen?

Would we use Hales Bar as the put-in point on Thursday? Or did you imagine a different put-in and parking spot from which we'd trailer to Hales Bar on Friday?

On Thurs nite would we tie the boats up right beside the Queen? Or across the river?

Well, I thought about launching from Hales Bar, but, it is already so close to Chattanooga that we could trailer to another ramp.
Chickamauga is about a mile upriver from where you launched at. (approx 4 miles up from DQ)
I hadnt thought out all the details yet. I'm just proposing it to see how much interest is there.

With a lot of ifs between now and then, one being if I get my boat completely done, this sounds like a great way to spend an extra day on the water.

From Hale's Bar to Chickamauga? Yeah, that would a GREAT run. .....probably one of the best around anywhere.

Oh yeah, I'm in.

I resemble that remark.

Actually, I'm just really really good and bumming rides on other people's boats. However, for someone else's boat to hold me, Yes, it does need to be quite buoyant.

You don't need a finished boat....just one with working motor, steering, seats and place for the admiral and a cooler!!! :D

If it's finished,it'll scratch easier!!

I just might be in as well...we'll see. I made reservations from the 22nd to 26th but could change things to work around the river run.
We will see.
