Id be interested in a 66 mile run to Chattanooga and back.
I believe that is a lock free trip isnt it?

Maybe Thurs or Sunday afternoon? Or friday morning?

Sounds like I should extend my reservations an extra day or two.

Hales Bar to Chattennooggaa is a lock free trip.
But, some of us do plan to lock thru to Chickaumauga Lake and scope out some future Gathering locations. The lock is only about 5 miles above Chattenooga.

That sounds great. No one will steal it anyway cause its not finished. I need to check and see when the guys are leaving on the river run so I can be there in time. I have one of the floating cabins reserved but I may need to get in an extra day if I can.

Ken, you can get a good dozen people on yours PLUS the extra fuel for the others  !!

I'll have room for at least one passenger also. Timing and people's cabin reservations depends on whether its a day trip or an overnight....I reserved a 3 BR cabin Fri and Sat...(see other thread, I have 2 bedrooms available Fri and Sat)..

Dave L said something about being there 5 days...that's how it's looking to get it all in!!

My intentions are to arrive either Tuesday night or Wednesday midday and leave out Monday. I have family coming with me but don't know how long they will stay.

Looks like we will have a full plate on the river and really looking forward to the runs together.

Ya'll left me at the dock last year while you had your fun so this year you can breathe my exhaust.

Thanks for the offer, Bill ! By summer's end we should have a handle on gas mileage   ! If you do the math, several may be needed

At some point in time, we'll have to firm up our itinerary so people can start making plans. The following is a first cut, so please chime in if you'd like to throw something into the mix !

Option 1 : Overnight on the Delta Queen
      Thursday morning __ AM :
        - Hales Bar to Chattanooga (33 miles)
        - Lunch __ PM
        - Chattanooga to Chickamauga (4 miles upriver from Delta Queen)
      Thursday night :
        - Supper in Chattanooga.
        - Overnight on Delta Queen.
      Friday morning __ AM :
        - Return trip to Hales Bar

Option 2 : Chattanooga run - same day return (66 miles round trip).
      Thursday morning __ AM :
        - Hales Bar to Chattanooga (33 miles)
        - Lunch __ PM
        - Return trip to Hales Bar

Option 3 : Explore Chickamauga Lake
River Run upriver on Thursday prior, to lock thru Chickamauga in the A.M. Explore Chickamauga Lake for sites/marinas/State Parks. My research as advocate for Chattanooga revealed a whole lot of marinas on Chickamauga lake. There is 2 parks, 4 marinas, with ramps within few miles of the dam. Scan the area and the marinas just keep on going on and on. Of all these, one is probably a good site to investigate. There are three ramps near the DQ to investigate.
Thursday evening lock back down river to Chattanooga and stay the night there, perhaps on the DQ. Friday return to Hales Bar for the Gathering.

It would be nice if all groups were to head out together. Your input would be appreciated !

I am planning to maintain the original intent of this post. That is, locking thru Chickamauga and exploring Lake Chickamauga. Not sure about the Delta Queen though; but I do intend to stay overnight in Chattenooga. Departure time will be early enough to explore Chickamauga + both lockages.
