New member intro, building either a Bayou or Importer

Post by Sapper21B_inID »

Hi,

I'm a new member here. I am trying to determine if I should be building either a Bayou or Importer/Importer LB. Have a 2010 Dodge Dakota Long Horn with a 6 1/2 ft bed. I bought the Bayou plans but am second guessing my decision. I've restored 3 boats so this kind of work is not new to me. Any thoughts are very welcome.

There is a sticker in the glove box of my Silverado. It shows the max weight of a slide in camper. 800 lbs for my truck. You might check and see if it's listed somewhere for yours.

Welcome! I agree with Hoodman, I've got a 91' Silverado K1500 5.7 LB and the Importer would be about my limit. The Dakotas were never that heavy.

Maybe keep your RV dreams but trade the truck? I'd pick a 3/4 ton at the very least.

Reason for a slide-in is so I can pull a boat. Biggest concern is the engine power or the lack thereof
