Hey Track,

Still plugging away. It's been pretty cold this past month which has slowed things down a bit. Will have some pics of forward cabin area this weekend.
Main tanks had to be redone.. the steel supplier had misread the dimensions and it's a pretty tight fit even when everything's spot on.
Have attached a pic of the new tanks nearly complete. More to follow...

Regards

Steve Hansen

A few more progress pics. Templating the forward cabin sole. Have added a bow eye for the anchor pendant and installed the bow thruster gear leg. Steering lines are plumbed to midships bulkhead. Bulkheads laminated to full height. Main tank template in place while tanks are being finished and powder coated. More to follow...

Regards,

Steve Hansen

Wow... that's great progress. Thanks for sharing. Are you gonna carpet the engine room????

No carpet.

Biggest problem in the engine room is getting everything to fit and still have access. When the deckhouse sole is in place it will become more or less a crawl space.

Hey Track,

The carpet question kind of blind sided me. There are carpet remnants just visible in the main cabin bilge area on at least one of the pics. These were placed in an attempt to protect the bilge finish from foot traffic, dropped tools & other mischief. Have also used them in the engine room altho a little too late to prevent some (repairable) wear & tear. Not permanent!

Regards,

Steve

Steve, maybe some tougher surface coating in high traffic areas is in order since you showed wear on what you have??

Pirate,

Probably a good idea. I was pleased with the Interlux bilgekote at first but seems it's not as tough as I had hoped. Would appreciate any suggestions...

I've used Bilgecoat in lockers etc on my sailboat, and liked it, but it's not really a high traffic area.

Oyster probably has some good recommendations for a coating for use here.

Someone else has mentioned something like Rhino-liner.....I wouldn't want it everywhere ,but it might be good in high traffic engine area for you...don't know how it would hold up in that application though.

What about this stuff?
http://www.nonslipcoating.com/marine.htm

I was planning on using that for the decks on mine (once I get there of course).

It is my favourite "joke". A relative used to have a nice boat on harbour in Auckland (I think he was Harbourmaster). I used to pity the engineers as he had white deep shagpile carpet right outside the engineroom door. Pity the apprentice that stepped outside that door in his boots! I was also looking at a boat in USA last week that actually did have carpet right between the main engines... beautiful engineroom.

Glenn,

Will have some pics this weekend. Have been cutting in the main and forward cabin sole, fitting deck beams etc. Slow progress.

I have to confess some serious carlin envy after seeing the curves on your recent Gentry pics. Mine are straight as a string with only the crown of the deck to add some visual interest.

While I'm thinking about it, are you familiar with BEP Marine out of NZ? Ran across their website yesterday and their electrical stuff seems to be very high quality & reasonably priced. They have a few dealers in the US & I'm looking at trying them out.

Regards,

Steve

A few progress pics. Please excuse the clutter, my shop and yard look like a war zone!

Had to tarp the cabin area due to leaks in the awning. Good chance to verify bilge pump placement.

Carlins and deck beams installed over cabin area. Very stout per plans. Got to use up lots of scraps for the lams.

Main cabin sole panels sealed and ready for finish. Raised head platforms framed in. Bilge ventilation and access main issues.

Fresh and gray water tanks under construction. Holding tank design in progress.

Will be running pipes and wires soon.

Regards,

Steve
