Hello all, I am Jonty, a new member from north east Australia and my brother and i have recently bought Glen-L's Renegade plans.
We have only started the planning stages at the moment and are currently scouring newspapers, trading posts and the internet for good solid timber to begin on the frames. Any tips along the way would be greatly appreciated.
cheers all.
Jonty

Gatherings are great to share ideas, tips, get incentive and just share the addictive sickness called boat building in general, with or without a boat present!! :D :D :D

Cheers Graham, I have been trolling through post topics and noticed some comments about australian timbers, you mentioned you are talking to a guy on the tablelands about supplying you with your timber requirements, any possible help on this subject would be appreciated.
thanks again
Jonty

Hi Jonty.

Welcome to the Down Under Glen-L club. Numbers are growing and we are working towards a gathering. The difficulty is the gegraphical separation and finding somewhere to have it. In the meantime a few of us are going "Hell For Leather" to get a couple boats ready for some boat fix at the Oz-gathering. I had a nice visit today from Jamie from Mackay. He is building an Aussie Belle and was visiting the area. I suspect my work will pale against his clean building habits and attention to detail. We had a great chat about his and my build and talked about the potential gathering.

I hope you find some timber and get started. It is great fun and hopefully the end result is even more fun!.

I'll get this guys phone number to you within the next day or two. He can supply the timber for boat building and is even thinking of building a boat himself, so good contact. Can't give it to you right now because I'm not where it is. Be in touch soon.

Gidday Jonty and welcome. If you would like to be added to our Aussie & NZ Glen-L build list pm me your name and e-mail address.

Our plan is to organize a gathering of Glen-l builders, just waiting on a few more completed builds, they're pretty close, before we start to get serious about it.

Tim
