Hello and regards everyone. Growing up in Louisiana I fell in love with being in boats early, mostly using fishing as an excuse. At 14 I made a decision that I had to build a stripper canoe. Now after many years of focus on career etc and living in a rental situation with no enclosed space I have ordered the plans for a much simpler boat (Fife plans on the way).

Part of the decision to go with a simpler design from Glen-L was the support I've seen perusing these forums for people with any type of question, plus the fact that I will be doing this build in the yard in the extreme winds of New Mexico springtime.

I might be asking for some help soon, but for now keep showing us new builders all the success stories.

Michael

Hi,

I'm just east of Albuquerque about 40 miles. Conchas Lake and Ute Lake are a couple of hours away. Water levels are pretty low these days due to drought, but I plan on hauling this thing all over. My family is in Louisiana and plenty of boating there!

I went to Google Map for Stanly.
It shows a Post Office!
You must be the only employed guy in town!

The lakes I was thinking of are way off east of you.

I have relatives in Louisiana. Lived on a lake there, and had several rivers and lakes all around me.
I'd still be near Lake Charles or DeRidder if I had my druthers. Stuck here now though.
