Hello,

I have thus far completed a 14' lapstrake wherry, 2 stitch-and-glue kayaks and a decked canoe. The wherry was from plans and a stack of lumber. The others were kits. The kits weren't as rewarding as building the wherry. I am now considering building the 17' Whitehall.

My long-term plans are to build a 25-27 foot steam launch using cedar strips like the Whitehall, so the experience and knowledge gained from it will benefit me in the launch.

I work in a one car garage, so it gets pretty tight, but still doable.

Welcome!

We want pictures of your build. I went to the Madisonville LA boat show. There was a guy designed and built a steam launch, in his head, with no plans. That includes the steam engine.

I look forward to following your build! Post Pictures!

Bill
