Hi everyone, I'm in the process of building the PUG.......I've noticed there are a couple of other people building it also....at least I hope they're still building it. I had a problem with cutting the forward and aft side from a single piece of plywood...I came up about 2 inches short of plywood at the stern sheer point. I talked to Glen and he gave me some advice on how to repair the problem, but I'm still foggy about what happened. Could any PUG builder tell me if they have cut out the side panels according to the plans and instructions and if so did they have any problem like mine??? If not, then I'm doing something really dumb and I've turned my brain upside trying to figure out what it is.

Thanks in advance....this is a good forum and I'm sure someone will come to my assistance.

If you are in a Metric measurement part of the world, the sheets are shorter than the imperial equivalent maybe... ???

Brian,
I didn't come up short on my sides, I did have a time stitching the bottom pieces together at the bow. I will pull my plans out tomorrow and send you a PM with my number if you want to talk.

Chip

Thanks, Chip

I found out what the problem was, but I sure would like to discuss another problem I'm having with someone who has been there, done that. By the way, I'm using Joubert Okoume plywood.....French stuff....98 inches long.....translates to about 250 centimeters, so the problem wasn't short plywood...au contraire.

Brian

One more problem overcome......a few of the numbers for the aft bulwark were wrong....I used my own measurements and finished cutting out all hull parts today. Still too cool outside to do any epoxy work.......will do butt joints in my house and stitch together outside. Thanks for comments and offer of help.

Brain,

I picked up the same thing, in fact I told Glen yesterday during a phone conversation about the issue. He wanted to talk to me about any problems I had with my Pug build. Boy, was it weird to tell the man himself about that  . I used 8" and 9" as my last two measurements and they came out pretty close. :D After I installed them I used a batten to mark and get the shape I wanted.

Brian,
One more piece of advice. When you install your buttblocks make sure you leave enough room for your tape to clear them. :D
