Hello,
I have been 'dream-using' the glen-l site for just over a year and now I am ready to take the plunge. I am going to learn how to build a wooden boat by building a wooden boat.

I have just got the contract on my workshop here in Berlin, Germany and I shall be building the Tahoe 23, extending it to 24.4 (inspired to do so completely by the pictures of Butch Barto's Innocence).

I start on June 1...

Timber merchants here in the capital city are few and far between, but there are some. Here are the choices of the woods I can get 'easily' here in Berlin for my frames: oak, maple, ash, siberian larch and carolina pine.

I would be very grateful for any advice on the pros and cons of these woods with regards to my project.

Thank you very much!
David

Welcome aboard...glad to have you! I've seen Butch's boat in person and it is a dream!

Welcome!

If the oak they supply is white oak, then I would recommend that.
This chart might help you with your lumber selection decision.
