Hello everybody. Lance Here. Grew up here in south Louisiana and my grandfater had me out on the water as soon as I could fit a lifejacket. I have plenty of great memories fishing with him until he passed when I was 12. My father was not much of the outdoors type so I kind of fell out of it.

Fast forward to present day and i an 36 with a family of my own. I have picked up some woodworking skills form my dad over the years and i am yearning for a good project to start with my son.

Buiding a wooden boat seems to kill two birds with one stone. I get to share a project with my son and dad and i will get to take my son out on the water.

I want build something small and simple to start. Something that my son and I can freshwater fish out of on the bayou. I look forward to discussions with the vets on the board here.

Welcome! As for a boat choice the "Jimbo" might be a good fit for you.

8) One of the larger john boats might work well they are pretty stable and shallow draft as you know some places in the bayou can get pretty shallow 8)

Hi,
My name is Alastair Anderson and I live in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. It is a city that sits on Corio Bay and therefore fishing has been a favourite pastime for me over the years. My son and I have just spent a year rebuilding a 3.8 metre Stacer craft (Bargain!!!). In the past 6 months we have thourouly enjoyed getting her out on the water but have found her size severely limits our fishimg. We have decided to take the plunge and purchase the Chinook plans and slowly build her up in Aluminium. We look forward to sharing our story along the way as well as making many new online friends as well.
