Hi All I have just ordered a set of plans for a Malahini and looking forward to the challange of building a boat that is equal to the fantastic examples on the gallery pages.

I currently have a Bayliner 2958 on lake windermere, and love it to bits, it was bought as a project boat following it being abandoned on the lake for 5 years,
it took 3 years for me to bring it back to life as well as a hek of alot of cash, its been on the lake now for 2 years and I have tried sitting at home with the wife in the evenings watchin TV but sitting around is not for me, cant wait to get my teeth back in to a boat build again.

Have a look at a couple of pics of my Bayliner wet n wild.

Hi Alaned and welcome I have built the Malahini and before that I had a bayliner 2655 :D The guy's on http://www.cmba-uk.com/ can be a great help for sourcing parts or old outboards they also have a lot of meetings some up on lake windermere and a competition in Cardiff each year where even a Malahini is in with a chance :D
Great job on your Bayliner she looks stunning I'm sure the Malahini will be no problem to you.

Fellow UK builder here, down near Fleet / Basingstoke and building a Zip very slowly.

Been setting up a workshop for the build

I Have decided to build the frames and slats out of sapele, this is due to the cost of mahogany and lack of local suppliers

I have bought the timer unplaned to keep costs down and a planer thicknasizer off ebay
the first planed planks look great and i lacquered a small sample with fantastic results :)

I have nominated a box to pop all the bills in to keep a check on the build £180 so far but i have promised my wife it will cost no more than £3000 to get it on the water

only time will tell
