hello everyone just started building my 19 foot monaco very excited and nervous. Up here in Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin. Yacht building has been a very lucrative business for local builder Palmer Johnson, building some of the worlds best power yatchs. The area is swarming with water sport lovers. I too would love to take part in these summer activities, hoping to be able to upon completion of this 19 footer. Knowing i will need some help with the completion thou from individuals on this forum. Please respond if you have any knowledge of building either a monaco or any similiar boat i am currently in need of some answers on building the barrel back transom!

Welcome to the forum. You live in a mighty rich area for wooden boats. I was on Lake Geneva last fall and loved the heritage.

The Monaco and Riviera are essentially the same boat with minor modifications so builders of both will be able to assist you.

The plans you will receive are full size which makes it easy to trace and cut the frames to proper sizes. The transom is kinda quirky for it takes a moment to think it thru. It will require that you build it up in 3 sessions but once you lay everything out you will have no trouble with it.

Ok, time to order plans, study and get to work. Questions will flow later and hopefully maybe a helpful answer or two

Few things in the world measure up to the thrill and satisfaction of boating in a boat that you built.

Thanks a million Dave I will spend some more time looking at full size layout drawing. I actually have all the other ribs 1-9 done but when I looked at the drawing for transom parts I couldn't quite figure it out. The way it looked to me the vertical nailing member where on the wrong side of curve. O well i will spend some more time looking them over. You said there is another boat very similar to build as the Monaco so i will be asking builders of that boat for help as well. Honestly what made me interested in trying this was when I saw how awesome the boats are that other builders are turning out!
