That sounds good. I haven't been told of anything I have to do that day, so I'll do my best to get there.

Bill, that sounds good. Getting warm real quick, so earlier is fine by me.

Well, after much hemming and hawing, I think I'm going with the Zip for the first build. Just ordered the plans, so that should give me a few weeks to look them over before the Gathering.

Right, so I mentioned that I had built a couple canoes at the Gathering. Figured I should post them, and this seemed like a good enough thread. They're by no means perfect, but I enjoyed making them, and learned a lot while doing so. Plus, it was good practice for the Zip, right? (Please tell me yes! )
First one.

Second, just finished one.

My first build was a canoe, a plywood one. Any experience you have gained with those canoes will help you with your zip, even though it is a different construction method. You have the experience to know that you can build boats. And you have experience building something with all those curves. So much different that woodworking where your building boxes.

How much do those weigh? Are they fiberglassed or just epoxied?

Those are some nice-looking canoes! Yes... the experience you gained from building these will most certainly pay off on your Zip!

Good to meet you at G-10!

Thanks guys! That means a lot after seeing your work. I've got another few projects in the works before the Zip, but that gives me plenty of time to study the book and plans to get it straight in my head before I start making sawdust.

rleete, they're fiberglassed. I haven't gotten out a scale, but I'm thinking the 15' one is about 45-50lbs, and the 13' one is probably 25-30lbs. Keep meaning to measure them, but me and the scale don't get along too well.
