I will be starting the 16 foot Hell Cat build soon. Looking at the specifications I am concerned that the transom is too light to support the weight and torque of the new 4 stroke engines. Also the stress of towing. Should I consider doubling the transom to 1 1/2 inches or install a synthetic transom?
Thanks.

Catbldr
I think I'd double the whole transom. particularly if you're going with one engine.
Also, remember that older engines were HP rated at the flywheel. Newer engines are HP rated at the prop. Old 100 HP motors might only rate out at 85-90 HP.
