New member from Sydney Australia
Hi I'm Marco from Sydney Australia.
I've been following this forum for a while in order to find a suitable boat design for my retirement project.
It will be still another year until I start building my boat. I have settled on the the Torpedo after seeing Roberta's boat.
It is an absolute gem, congratulations Roberta !
So I bought the plans a few month ago. The documentation is outstanding, so I'm hoping I will be able to tackle this build.
I have a cabinet maker background and have restored a wooden glider many years ago, but never built a boat.
In the mean time, I have decided to build an exact 1:10 model of the Torpedo to get my head around some aspects of the design.
All frames were lofted from the original drawings in 1:10 scale
I still haven't made up my mind about the cockpit layout. The model will give me hopefully an indication what is possible.
I hope to find lots of ideas and information in this forum that will ultimately help me to build my dream boat.

Re: New member from Sydney Australia
Awesome! I am also building a 1/6 scale model. Please post pictures and comments as I am interested in seeing your progress and will help any way I can.

Re: New member from Sydney Australia
Hi Roberta, thanks for your encouragement, I will be starting with the full scale built in about a year when I'm retired.
I built the model with the larger cockpit to see if I can get one seat and a bench in it. However, I may change my mind and build a 2-seater like yours. The larger bow looks quite stunning.
The intention is to exchange the mock gear box of the model with an electric motor and remote control the boat. I have a few spare motors from my RC helicopters.

Hi Marco,
Welcome to the forum! Always great to see another Aussie on board.
Model looks fantastic, you won’t have any trouble with the build with your skills.
I am looking at organising an Australian gathering later in the year, I also have a list of Australian builders if you would like to be added. If so PM your details, name, number and email once I add you I will forward a copy of the current list to you.
