I am currently building a Sea Knight and work on it daily when the weather is worm. I would like to buy plans for a future project and think a sailboat would be enjoyable to build. I have no sailing knowlege and very little boating experience however I enjoy building. There are three designs I like the Fancy free sharpie, tango sloop and I also like the Catboat design though I dont think Glen L has plans. I would want to use it in the Puget Sound on nice days I'm a fair weather kind of guy. Could any of you sailers provide some feedback please.

Well I learned about a local design that is real popular and designed back in 1958, the Thunderbird 26'. I was able to obtain plans for this boat and really like the design. I think this will be my next build. There are a number of them in the Puget sound.

Hard to find a good picture of the Thunderbird 26. While it is probably a faster boat than the Glen-L 25, it has fewer features. The Thunderbird has a porta potty under the front bunks while the Glen- 25 has a dedicated head with sink. Didn't see as much inside as the Glen-L 25 which is fully equiped and confortable. However, the cabin design on the Glen-L 25 is less than desirable but easy to modify. Headroom on the Thunderbird is probably better. The Glen-L 25 also suffers from the centre board but this feature is desirable when cuising includes entering a shallow canal and not wanting to stay there.
