Dinghies, day sailers, world cruisers. Many small sailboats make ideal rowboats or low-speed power boats.

Centerboard sheave

Postby Levaggik » Thu Oct 12, 2017 5:30 am

I purchased the centerboard sheave through Glen-L. The dimensions are 2 1/2" in diameter by 5/8" thick. If you take the brass bushing into consideration it measures ~ 11/16" thick. If I add a 1/8" plate on each side that totals 15/16". Then I have to secure a pin through it. The centerboard slot is only 1" wide max. The sheave, side plates and pin will not fit in the centerboard slot. Was I sent the incorrect sheave? Do you have a sheave that is 3/8" or max 1/2" wide?

Never mind. I solved the problem myself. For those of you out there that are experiencing this same problem you have two options that I can see. Purchase a 2.5" diameter x 1/2" wide sheave on line from another vendor or order this'' one from Glen L and take it to a machine shop and have it turned down to 1/2" wide.
