Glen-L 15 shroud tang location for aluminum mast

Glen-L 15 shroud tang location for aluminum mast

Postby mnanfito » Wed Nov 29, 2017 9:29 am

Hello,

I searched the archives and did not find an answer to my particular question.

If you used an aluminum mast, like Dwyers DM-4, can you share information on placement of shroud tangs and whether you used spreaders, or a diamond spreader? I placed my shrouds per the plans and like they should be longer and placed higher. Dimensions would be great.

Thanks in advance

Michael,

The Glen-L 15 does have spreaders. We recommend that you set the mast up (with spreaders) and then tape the shrouds to the mast and adjust as needed. You can also adjust the chainplates and/or turnbuckles as well. We have a couple of links on installing hardware that may be overkill, but should help:

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Gayle, thanks. The plans call for diamond spreaders as diagramed in some of the links you shared. Do you recommend these or do you recommend what I think of as cap spreaders i.e., shrouds extend from the chainplate to the spreader tip and then to the mast?

Right now I have the shrouds going from chainplate to mast in a factional rig configuration with the diamond spreaders fastened separately from the shrouds, per the plans I have.

Michael,

The set up you have with the diamond spreaders would be the preferred method...
