I'm trying to think ahead in building a Glen-L 15 and am wondering if any modifications will be needed to the transom should I get an outboard motor. Max HP is 7.5, but I am thinking about a 4 or 5 HP. I like the 4-stroke. Any suggestions? Yamaha or Honda are considered good and come in a 15" or 20" shaft length. How would such a motor be mounted to accomodate the rudder? Any changes needed to the transom?

A lot depends on your shaft size. Most sailboats that rigid mount an outboard will select a long shaft with a doubler of plywood offset to one side, normally on the portside because of most of the tiller handles being on the right side of the engines.
