Hello, im considering building the Yankee Star and was hoping to find some pictures or people who have/are built this boat, does anyone know of anyone?

When im done im hoping to move aboard, sail around and work on coastal geology for a while, until the next project. if all goes to plan of course haha

Thats certainly a nice boat. Forty feet and lots of room. I would think it might take about 8 years for one person to build it. Do you have a place to build it and it would need to be inside out of the elements in some way.

Yea there is a field in the back were i build my projects, for the last few projects i basically made a hoop green house to cover the projects. Its really stable and easy to expand when needed. I am curious how to build the keel? I am assuming it is made up of blocks of lead or iron, not cast as one solid unit?

I think the keel process will depend on the material you plan on using ( ie steel, aluminum, glass or ply. If steel, quite possibly the lead can be poured right inside the hull. ( I've done that on a 34 sailboat )

Thank you for your interest in our Yankee Star. People building larger boats like this don't always think to send photos when they're done because it takes quite a while to build--at least that's my best guess! We do have a few photos in our Gallery:
