Center board winch

Dinghies, day sailers, world cruisers. Many small sailboats make ideal rowboats or low-speed power boats.

Center board winch

Postby Stuart » Thu May 26, 2016 11:39 am

Found a wonderful stainless steel 850lb winch to use for raising the center board. Then, because the handle exits to the side, the handle makes it very difficult to maneuver the companion way, and then the handle also strikes the center board frames and buttress. So back to the store went the beautiful thing. Best for this purpose is a top spindled crank and that is the worm gear type which should have been specified because I cant image lowering the thing with the gear type whizzing around on the way down.
Anyone suggest where I could find a good one?
