14 or 15 sloop rigging costs.

Dinghies, day sailers, world cruisers. Many small sailboats make ideal rowboats or low-speed power boats.

14 or 15 sloop rigging costs.

Post by TAB » Sat Sep 03, 2016 3:13 pm

I am just wondering, about how much would it cost to build and rig a 14 or 15 sloop?

I have been trying to decide on either a small outboard or a small sloop. part of that is keeping the little women happy, which means a budget that is 'honest". in other words a 25% cost over run is ok, a 500% is not.

you know that old saying... my greatest fear is that my wife will sell all my toys for what I said I paid for them.

Depends a lot, I got on of these http://www.duckworksbbs.com/tools/swage-it/ and made up my own stays. But I paid ~£800 sterling for a nice set of sails. You can get cheaper sails, right down to Poly Tarp at the extreme, but by the time you price in the mast, boom, standing rigging, sails, running rigging, and a hand full of blocks, and bits of stainless, and outboard would be cheaper.

But if you are going to build it without sails, then perhaps build a launch, not a sloop.

Hey! I built a boat ! No Really, I did !
