Step 1 in building a boat outside without a level surface: Create a level surface and change plans half way through causing you to go to Lowes and forget to get the 4x4 you're replacing. The inspector isn't so sure. Edited to correct link.

Steve,

Hmm, it worked for me. Though I must admit it's not very exciting as it's just a 4x4 outline with my dog sniffing my drill.
Edit: I figured out what was wrong and think I may have gotten it fixed.

Re: Glen L 15 in Montana
Level has been a tough concept for me during my Francis Drake build. I too built a raised platform (40' X 15') on which to build the boat; finding 'level' here was challenge #1. After righting the hull (flipping it rightside-up) the next 'level hurdle' was getting the hull level, both fore-and-aft and port-starboard. 'Level' came along again when striking the waterline when I (finally) got smart and rented a self-levelling laser level (where previously I had struggled with the water level in a long, clear plastic tube trick). I appreciate that the Egyptians conquered 'level' 4,500 years ago, but... I'm from California!
Good luck with your project.

Thanks Steve. If you hadn't said your dog was sniffing that drill I may have thought he was holding it in his mouth and thought you had a helper!
Mike, props to you! What an awesome build...
