I have to replace sheer clamps and the top 2 - 3 inches of hull plywood on my glen-l 21. Will I create a lot of grief for myself if I do this with the boat sitting upright and not braced? There is no decking in place, but the deck beams are all there. I am concerned about the rest of the hull plywood twisting etc. when I replace the clamps. Has anyone else done this? I plan on using butt blocks to splice in the new plywood. The plywood edges were not covered properly outside for many years and this is the result.
Thanks, Doug

Sounds like quite a job. If the hull is supported, I don't think there should be any wracking problem. You will have to remove more than a few inches. You will need to install longitudinal butt blocks on the inside of the hull, between frames. The new side will lap the butt blocks and glue and fasten to them. It will also be difficult to fair the sheer unless you have enough room to maneuver.
