Verna and I and our good friends Dave and Chris Harris launched the Titan this morning.
Summary; The little Ford Ranger and the trailer worked perfectly...tows like a dream. ( had to slide the axles back a foot to get more tongue weight.)
Floated off the trailer just great.
No leaks!
Had to add 240 lbs to the bow to trim...will add more ballast later to lower the C of G.
The " Schilling" rudder I built works like a dream. It will almost turn in its own length...incredible. EVEN STEERS BACKING UP.
The 18 x 10 3 blade prop seems about right...Man does she ever bight when you kick her into gear.
The tubular cooler that I fabricated works perfect...never went over 180 deg.
The dry stack works well...very little exhaust smell when the girls were sitting in the cockpit.
Went out into the lake (Ontario) proper in a 3 to 4 foot sea. It handles everything with no water coming on board, but gets a little lumpy...to be expected.
Had a nice lunch for four inside the cabin ( 2 seated and 2 standing in doorways) quite comfortably...lots of room compared to the Ranger tug I looked at of the same length.
The only flaw on the day is a miss in the engine sometimes...will get the injectors serviced, as the motor has been sitting for a while. I expect this is the problem.
No speeds yet as the GPS wasn't on board.
A truly great day!
