Complete will get good pics and video soon. Mark58 motor rebuilt 100% testing now. Strong motor boat came out just what I was looking for. Thanks Glen-l for opening up a whole new world. Little tough at the boat launch! I have 6 orders already :D

Judging from the wake it looks like its running and riding perfectly! Nice job!

6 orders at one ramp, that's probably a record! :D Are you going to bring it to the Gathering?

Looks Fantastic, And a calm day for launching! You will now experience folks admiring your build everywhere you go. Enjoy!

Curious as to what top speed you got or think you will eventually hit. I have a Mark35A on my ZIP now, but starting to investigate a Mark58 I have recently acquired, 10 more ponies. That's a sweet rebuild on your engine, mine looks to have originally been metallic charcoal.

Thanks everyone. Not sure if we can make the gathering. This is still a work in progress but now the motor is on it will be driven. The motor is more than enough power for the hull, it's set up well currently but can't really run at WOT until full break in period is complete. The power band on the Mark 58 is mid stream it should have a nice whole shot but the power is up on plane around 3000 and up. This boat is very light I will in testing have to move weight around to finally get the ride I'm looking for. Up on plane around 25 hull ran thru the water well. GD if I had to guess right now that motor will push the hull 40+ but I'm not sure the hull will ride well at those speeds. I like that extra power to have but doesn't mean the boat will be run at WOT. Current set up 50lbs sand bag in bow, gas tanks mid hull, large 70lbs battery at back seat. I have the large battery just for testing will go with a jet ski battery in the future.

Hope you hit 40 MPH. Not to rain on your parade but that would be phenomenal. Other ZIP's running 45 HP seem to get up to the mid 30's. Buddy Slack in a modified ZIP with a 70 HP hit 40.8 MPH. I run 30 MPH @ 5,600 RPM on my ZIP with my '59 Mark35A with a 10" diameter, 10" pitch, brass, 3 blade prop. You might be closer to a 13" pitch with your extra ponies. All the best, looks GREAT!

My 90 HP Malahini Hits ~41 mph at top speed and its a blast (if not a bit bumpy). I can well imagine what a Zip would feel like at 40+, just make sure the water is nice and smooth the day you try it ;)

No GD your right around mid 30's is what it should do. Haven't had it at WOT yet! I can see now it will be a LOTA fun! This hull design is not for speed but fun.

Curious as to what top speed you wind up with for personal reasons. Recently picked up a '58 Mark58, the only year they made that particular model designation. Some forensic sanding shows what looks to be it's original color, Metallic Charcoal. So far have had new brushes installed in the starter and compression looks good, keeping my fingers crossed. They are a blast to run!

Thanks Mike what a long haul it was. GD I will do some speed trials tomorrow and see how it pans out. Earlier in the week had 3 adults and one 11 yr old had it around 33 and was impressed with the hole shot with 4 in the boat no problem. Travis
