Well the plans are here and I have had them scanned and have a 1/4 scale set of drawings to work from now. So the plan is to workout the lower sides with a 1/4 scale model. Will use the setup that I used on the tug. Because the tug was not a Glen-L I have stopped posting the work on it. Didn't feel it was right. But you will see some of the 1/4 scale table that it came from.




I will try and post the modeling work as I work out the lower sides. You ask,why lower sides?
Well back in the day I raced some utility as a kid. Low sides and almost no boat. But fast! So I have been looking for a boat that is close to this style. With a little rework I think,( hope)? the Flying Saucer can be made to fit the bill.

Under 13' ,under 150 lbs.
Fast! Power will be from a restored Mark 40H.(working on that now at the shop)
Have the look of a 50,s utility racer.
Have room for 2.

we don't care what plans you use to build from we are interested on method and how it comes together I personally like glen-l plans but would have built another if I found one i liked. the advantage is that other have built the same boat or building in my case not many have been built. so post and share pic's and the processes you are going through on your build

I think I'd try to maintain the width of the frames and increase the flair of the sidess to get there. You probably won't need to cut down much to really change the looks of the profile.

So,what is this?????


It's a 1/4 scale 4'x8' pice of plywood.

So I used the 1/4 scale plywood for some layout?




Also put some lines on it to see what 3/4" x 5" and 6' would look like?



And this is something you are not to do!! Cut out your plans.

A little more work? ( 1/4 scale= little!)

With the frames are so small I needed to move the front legs to 5 1/2 line+-.( will make it stiffer,with luck.) Was looking at the how -to-guide and my 5 1/2 frame is mounted to the leg system. The two screws point to the old line.



Small spacer for the conner gusets.

Also have been thinking about taking apart the building frame and I will not be able to get to the screws??? What could I use? "Light Bullb" hot glue!
Will need to add blocks to hold the outer part of the frames for fairing/sanding also.

My hat is off to you boat builders! Cutting out the parts is WORK! And at 1/4 scale my band saw can make BIG Mistakes!! ok its me!

Transom frame is sealed with CPER. Also frame 5 1/2.

Also found if you put (CPER) over hot glue it will pull free from the wood/MDF.Now will is stick to it after (CPER) ??
