I have this as a proposal for a RiverRun2011.
Here is what I am thinking:

Arrive Hales Bar for meet-n-greet Wednesday prior to G5.
Shove off Thurs am for Chattenooga, lunch in Chattenooga.
Layover in Chattenooga with ample food & suds
Friday am return riverrun to Hales Bar

note*
if there is dozen or more folks committed for Wed nite, I will do Low Country boil Wed nite

Ken - I will be there on Wednesday and will make the run with you up to Chattanooga. Don't think I will stay overnight given my "added responsibilities" this year.

Hi Ken, I doubt I'll get there in time to do anything Wednesday. I will likely get there late Wednesday night, could launch early Thursday morning and set sail upriver anytime after that. I would be happy to stay over Thursday night in Chattanooga, presumably at the Delta Queen, but anywhere is fine. I can't come earlier as my last day of work will be Monday the 12th, (yup, retirement!! Woo Hoo!!) I WILL, however, be able to stay down there as long as I feel like it afterwards!! :D :D :D :D

Dwain....have you thought about dates at all yet...flying or motorhome...Ski King in tow???
Gaffrig? Dave G.?
Bruce/Paul, our Canadian brothers...have you tossed around ideas for anything along these lines yet?
Our lunch and sightseeing trip last year was fun, as well as the evening out the year before that.
Ray, which boat are YOU bringing??

I would be happy to take a passenger or two for this run if someone wants to go but either has no boat or doesn't want to make the run in their boat.

Bob

CONGRATULATIONS BOB!!!! Happy to hear you have decided to forget all that law and order stuff and become a full time boatbuilder :D

As to G5 - right now my wife is planning on coming along so we will bring the True Grit and spend a few days in Chattanooga. Not sure yet if we will make the run before or after G5. If for some reason she changes her mind I will then come solo with the Cabin Skiff.

Quick question, since several boats have a big difference in speeds, how do you guys handle or deal with this?
Is there a Tortoise and a Hare division?

Last year it was me, KenS, and Dave Lott beforehand. Ray went afterward and spent a day or two. Dave ran with Ken and I about 22-24 mph even though he was capable of another 20. When I went with Ray a couple years ago he had the CS so we ran about 24. We can try and figure something out if we have a group of disparate speeds...

Bob : Retirement !! Woo Hoo!! You'll love it ... Congratulations !

We'll be arriving Tueday afternoon. A run on Thursday sounds great, but we won't be overnighting. We'll keep Dave company on the return trip.

Gayle and John ... Can you make the run this year ??

That seems too much logistics, it all works itself out.............

I spoke with Gordon, he says he'll do the whole trip, overnite too.

Congratulations Bob!
The removal of that stress will make you feel like a new man!

If the wife can get off work, we may come up a couple of days early and make the Chattanooga run, but at 5.5 or 6 mph, the rest of you will just have to wave as you go by us.

However ............ I'll catch up with you (or maybe just wave as I go by) at the fuel dock.

Tell you what. Ya'll start on Wednesday and I'll wait unitl Thursday. I'll still catch up to you. :D

Seriously, for me it's not the speed difference, but the fact that ya'll won't want to deal with my open headers  for hours on end. I'll see you on Friday at HB.

No excuses allowed John. I saw that boat last year. You will be ready. You have 114 days.
