Re: Gathering Readiness Drama....

I too am in one of those three dimensional situations. Even with the height of my hitch, I scrape the bottom of my bunk mounts as I come out of the garage and then my prop drags grass at the bottom. I had to take off my prop and rudder guard on the trailer for I could not get the trailer in with it on.

I cut the bottom of the bunk mounts off

I am swearing that I am going to build a shop on the level instead of the side of a 30 degree slope!!!

Few things in the world measure up to the thrill and satisfaction of boating in a boat that you built.

But,,,,,But,,,,But,,,,,, its been noted recently that inboard boats are just misunderstood.[tongue planted firmly against cheek] 8) :P

Personally I am a fan of the biggest tires on all boat trailers, which can also be another factor for certain setups especially for the float on trailer applications.

15 inch tires on boat trailers also will give you another margin of safety for highway towing at safe speeds. Most of the wheel wells will allow for them too that already accept the 13 or 14 inche ones. The only difference seems to be some lug patterns.

I might not make it either, a storm blew a tree on my truck.

We've been missing you Dwain. :D Unless something bad happens I will be at G5. Maybe with the boat. At least on the trailer.

Hi

Sorry to hear of everyone's troubles with their boats, trucks, trailers etc.

I'm afraid I had to send an email to Dave Lott this morning confirming our regrets.

I have to travel on business the week of The Gathering G5 and there just isn't anyway for me to get out of it.

I wish you all speedy repairs, save journey, and good weather. I will be watching for the pictures!

Cheers

It was the 13x11 you sent me. After this damage, I had it re-pitched and cupped to 13x12. I can't wait to try it out with a straight shaft.

the trailer has a prop guard. This was just a fluke combination of the angles.

UPDATE.

I dropped the shaft off at a cool machine shop.

http://www.kytechmachine.com/pages/prop%20shafts.html

He seems to think that he can straighten it for $75. (But I am waiting for him to confirm... If he can't fix it, he'll fab me a new shaft... no problem expecting a Labour Day test run)

Mark,
Sorry to hear of your schedule conflict, enjoyed watching your sailboat sail and chatting with you the last 2 years very much. Hope to see you again at a future Gathering.
