Mixing Epoxy

Post by Jimbob » Thu Feb 07, 2019 11:49 am

Here's something that worked out for me.
For measuring parts of epoxy, I pour the epoxy and hardner into separate containers. Then mix them together in a larger container.
I get the plastic 3oz cups from walmart that have ridges on them that I use for the same or different ratios. The cups are real cheap.
I then pour them into a clear plastic tumbler and mix with chop sticks that I get for free at the local chinese resturant. I also use the tumblers for measuring larger quantities after drawing lines on them with a sharpie. ( I don't trust the plungers on the epoxy bottles.)
The small cups work great for mixing small quantities of Poxy Grip.

Jim, I have used those cups from the beginning. They are dirt cheap. I usually pick a ridge i want to fill to and mark all the cups I need for that mix with a sharpie so I don't make a mistake in measuring.

I was eating store brand yogurt every morning. The plastic containers are a nice size to work with.

The yogurt containers are always my mixing pots. I'd measure with the plastic cups, then mix in a yogurt cup.

During the time I was building my boat, I had a family member spend some time in the hospital. Drinks of all sorts were served with the same type of cups. All day, all night...the same style cup.

After a few days, something in my head went *BINGO*, and I started retrieving these from the garbage!

These are wonderful! Pour resin to any graduated line, then add part B to the appropriate mix ratio, then stir! I found the supplier & bought a bunch more...

Works like a charm!
