I've read around here that some people were painting the inside of their boats with garage floor paint. As many of you probably know, Rustoleum makes a garage floor epoxy kit that I think might work for ecapsulating instead of using poxy-shield. It seems to me if this coating was applied to the wood it would bond and seal it nicely. I have epoxied my garage floor and if anything gets spilled on it, it doesn't soak in. The price would be about half of the poxy sheild kit for my boat (tnt) and this would be easier to apply.

I may have read that folks were ecapsulating with poxy-shield and then painting over with garage floor paint (not the epoxy kit).

There has been some talk about using it for bilge paint. My question for use on the exterior of the hull is whether it is will sustain immersion.

That is the question.

And another is flexibility given our hulls move a lot.

You might want to call their tech department

There is a number of so called epoxy floor paints being sold at the big box stores. Buyers beware, read the label and the details. Some are waterbased formulas. Some so called poly paints are also one paint which carries a base of mineral spirits.
