I was wondering if anyone can tell me how many coats of the encapsulating epoxy I should use? Reason I ask is I am going to paint over the epoxy and glue carpet down. I seem to remember someone saying to put 2 coats of epoxy on, but if I am painting over the epoxy, do you still recommend 2 coats? This question is for the inside of the boat.

Oh, by the way...I am using Rust-o-leum marine paintand Glen-l's epoxy in case that makes a difference.

I would think that if you are gluing carpet down, you wouldn't need to use paint over the epoxy, just 2-3 coats of epoxy.

Remember though, that the carpet will retain moisture long enough for it to seep into any porous areas or voids

thank you upspirate. I was actually thinking of painting where there will not be carpet. Like the transom area for example. I just wasn't sure of 1 coat of epoxy and one coat of marine paint was equal to 2 coats of epoxy. At the cost of this epoxy, I don't want to waist it with more coats than are necessary.
