Re: Epoxy Sensitivity
This is new. Very little, outdoor, with a mask. But, old filter cartridges. A shot of steroids and epinephrine and six days of steroid tablets. (So much for the Olympics.) The point is be careful. It hurts.

Re: Epoxy Sensitivity
Sorry,Bill. I wasn't trying to be funny.just wondering if that was from just being around it(maybe inside boat )or direct resin contact.?

Re: Epoxy Sensitivity
God speed the recovery, Bill. It is frightening how some people are so viciously attacked by epoxy.

Re: Epoxy Sensitivity
Last night I had to sleep it the recliner. If I laid down I soon could not open my right eye. After I went to the doctor I got on the couch for a nap. It will be OK.

Re: Epoxy Sensitivity
I wonder if Benadryl would help. It is an antihystimine. It helps all kinds of swelling.

Re: Epoxy Sensitivity
Wow Bill, I hope you recover quickly! I've heard of people being sensitized to epoxy but hadn't seen anyone have a reaction before.

Re: Epoxy Sensitivity
Nope. I'll go through what you can do, later. But, you need to go at least to a Doc-in- a-box. the next day.

Re: Epoxy Sensitivity
Bill; As I've reported before, I became sensitized many years ago and had to change careers because of it. I was afraid I would not be able to continue with my boat building hobby, but after a few years, MAS came out with a low toxin epoxy that has worked for me . I've built the Titan and the Gentry since with no side effects, so there is hope. I must point out I was never as sensitive as Bill, but started with "itchy and scratchy", first indications.

Re: Epoxy Sensitivity
This what you need to do.
1. Get any epoxy off of your skin and hands. Don't use solvents! That may just push it into your skin. Vinegar works ok.
2. Shower and wash your eyes with Baby Shampoo.
3. Anti-histamine such as Benadryl.
4. Ice packs.
5. Go to a doctor. The doctor may give you a steroid shot and an epinephrine shot. Probable will prescribe an oral steroid. This is a decreasing dose over several days
The worst part is having to listen to your wife and friends advice. You are already aware that your eyes look back. They should see them from your side.
