Hi there,

I have hovercraft plans that call for Aerolite 306. Its a phenol formaldahyde [sp]. I only seem to be able to find it on UK sites that people say won't ship to the US with the acid. What is the closest thing for glueing wood to wood (doug-fir).

Thanks!

Just use epoxy, or polyurethane if you're working in low temperatures.

Thats nice and easy! Although I had heard that Aerolite was just about the best glue for marine and aircraft use. My friend who has built two craft like mine in the UK swears by it too. Might get him to send me a couple of pots.

I suspect that Epoxy would be better at spanning gaps though.

Epoxy is MUCH better at spanning gaps! In fact it's the only adhesive that's really any good for less than perfectly fitted joints. With the correct additives it also makes an excellent filling and fairing material, one product does it all.
