I have about one half gallon of poxy-shield resign that is more than two years old. By looking in the can I can tell that it has darker amber color than my newer resign. Would this be OK for glueing, or should I dispose of it ?

Mix some of it and see if it goes off.

Personally, I kinda like using older epoxy (old hardener in particular).

Yes, it does go dark with age - but I see that as a plus when you mix it.

I find it alot easier to tell when you have a good blend - a "darker" uniform colour just seems easier to see than a lighter one for me.

I am currently using some 4 or 5 year old West and it's setting up fine, outdoors, in my 45 degree Canadian spring :)

I've been using MAS Epoxy with their Low Tox hardener due to allergies. I left some ( about $60 worth ) in the unheated shop last winter and it "curdled" and wouldn't mix or pour :?

Seems like their was some way to maybe heat the can in water to "fix" old epoxy resin.....can't remember right now,but I seem to remember something about that.... :?: :?

Yes, the quote (from WEST) is something like - after repeated freeze cycles resin may thicken or crystalize. It can be restored by heating to approx 120 degrees.

If I'm remembering correctly, I think they suggest to place the container in water and warm it that way....

I have a small peizo(sp?) electric heater with a fan that I just put the cans in front of and unscrew the tops. Works every time.

I have some of the same (Resin, not hardener). I rang them and they told me to heat the Resin, that would sort it.
