G7 Pop up Canopies, Tables & Tag Sale
Earlier this month Neel and I met at the Woodenboat Show in Mystic, Ct. We had a great time at the show and had a chance to talk about the upcoming G7 gathering. We will be bringing more canopies and tables this year, with the blessings of Hales Bar Marina, and plan to secure them beyond the last floating cabin. The intention is to create a common gathering/eating area protected from rain and sun. We also would like to propose holding a Tag Sale/Swap Meet with some or all of the proceeds going to funding the next gathering. What are your thoughts/Comments? Good idea, or bad?

As I said on the side to Neel, I'm in.
I mentioned this on Misc. I'd like to take some t-shirts to the Aussie's first Gathering from existing funds. Also, plan to do Koozies marked for both.
I would like input, if that is ok with everyone.

As I recall, we had wine from Australia at last years gathering. I would be happy to help fund the shirts and koozies. You can't go empty handed Bill!

We have the money to do it right now. And, we can replenish some or all of it. I'll contact Butch and Paula for the shirts. I'll post the graphics on the Koozies.

OK, I'll bite.... What on earth is a "Koozie"? Are you making a spa bath????

Track, a koozie is a sleeve that will keep your beer cold. I'm not sure it will fit a Foster's though.

Isn't there a Country/Western song about that??
The lyrics is something like,
"Grab a Koozie, Let's GO!!"

Oak is over rated, everything about it takes extra time; then it warps, splits or checks !!!

Re: G7 Pop up Canopies, Tables & Tag Sale
Howard,, I will have two, and maybe three 10'x10' Pop Up's along with three 6' folding tables. I will check into chair rental and take care of that expense as well. I have a lot of boat related items from many years of boating that I would love to see go to a new home. I will take all of that stuff with me to G-7 for the "Tag Sale", and donate the proceeds to the G fund. How many more Pop Up's will we need? How long do you think it should be, how many feet of tables, and how many chairs? I am thinking 60' or so. High or low?
Bill.... I think the T-shirts and "Stubbie Coolers" are a great idea.

Neel, I think 60' is more than adequate. A thought about the type of canopy. Are the docks are just 10' wide? Will a canopy with angled legs fit on the dock? What type of canopy did you bring last year? I have two 10' canopies and one 20' x 10'.

Re: G7 Pop up Canopies, Tables & Tag Sale
The one I brought last year was a 10X10 EZ-UP with straight legs. I know on the outboard side, the legs were on the wood, and the other side was close to the edge of the dock. I don't think angled legs would work unless the distance between the feet is 10' or less. I will try to take three with me, and I will shoot for straight legs. If anyone would like to provide one to add to the long tent area, it would be great. Neel

Peter, the one in the kitchen is a 'fridge'. The one in the garage with the tap in the door is called a 'kegerator'.

Re: G7 Pop up Canopies, Tables & Tag Sale
Howard and I have talked some more about the Tag Sale/Swap meet at G-7. We came to the conclusion that it should be set up in the parking lot on Saturday rather than out on the dock. This way it will not interfere with Saturday's events on the dock. I am not sure how much interest there is in this, but suspect many of us have "boat stuff" that we would like to see go to a good home. Any or all of the proceeds could be donated to the pot for the next gathering. We would like to hear from you folks to get an idea if, and how this would work. I would be more than happy to set it all up if there is interest......Any suggestions would be appreciated.. Thanks,,,,Neel
