Postby Lowka53 » Sun Sep 21, 2014 9:45 pm

:? hmm I pasted the touch on the gather for next year but have not seen anything, If I sponsor one this year it will be at Flaming Gouge on the Wyoming side It was just to hot at Powell in mid summer. I will let this rest for awhile longer before I do any planning.

That is a pretty place. Planning at least one trip there next summer.

I will admit it is a pretty place. Problem is there is not much in the way of accommodations unless you are camping. Nearest place has little to offer and the other places are 30+ miles away. We do not camp and would not be interested in this area for a gathering.

We went to K-boat races in Hailey ID this summer. Nice place and hotels are available. Or Lake Powell at a different time of year.

We most likely would not be planning anything too far from home for 2015 with the exception of the G9 in at Hales Bar in TN. Another exception would be something that would not be too far from where Glen L lives in CA. I really would like to give Glen a ride in the Torpedo. I'm keeping my eyes open for an ACBS boat show near them after the Torpedo is completed. Most likely late summer or fall.

I know the Lake Arrowhead ACBS Show is not too far from Bellflower, but it is in June. Not sure if I will be ready by then. Have to hustle.

I was thinking that maybe trying to get a Western Gathering in conjunction with an ACBS meet might be a good idea. ACBS does all the organizing and we would just be participants that could sort of spin off their efforts. They usually can get a good venue.

Those cabins look neat Rod. We haven't been to Flaming Gorge yet, but our neighbor has taken their boat there many times. We are planing on taking our boats there next summer with them.

Rod, you said you were looking at the Wyoming side. Lucerne Valley is in the Utah side. It looks nice, but I think they only have two of those floating cabins. Maybe in 2016, but 2015 would most likely be out for me.

Roberta,

I will be following this thread. If you bring your boat to the west coast I will plan on being there. If the Arrowhead event is too soon, the Northern California / Lake Tahoe Chapter has the Delta cruise the first weekend of October. It is not a show but lots of boating. Usually over thirty boats and I think a lot more fun than a show.

Here is a link to this years.

By the way, in the picture that is our boat in front of the Riva.

 you have to go through Wyoming to get there and like Lake Powell there is only a short distance between the two states I think maybe a mile by water. I will be going to often next summer I have a very long and close friend who is there about every weekend if not more and he owes me a fishing trip lol he test products for his business there and regularly catches very big fish out of the lake. I will check to see for myself what they have. where anybody goes there or not I don't really care I am not going back to lake Powell.

Ronb172,

July is crazy hot. Just got back from a Houseboat trip on Lake Mohave. The middle of September is perfect. Temperatures around 100. Water about 80, and smooth as glass most of the time. You may see three or four boats pass by all day. Its like having your own private lake. Do it every year, can't wait till next year.
